Fat Toad Films
Fat Toad Films was established in 2017 by shooting producer/director Patrick Steel, with a focus on documentary production for online, broadcast and theatrical.
The company has developed a number of creative documentaries, which have had success at film festivals around the world. Larry And Janet Move Out, a documentary about the ‘decanting’ of a housing estate in London, was described by The Guardian as “a moving account of one couple’s plight, a social commentary for our times”.
After moving from London to Edinburgh in 2019, Patrick won a commission through the Scottish Documentary Institute’s Bridging The Gap scheme for emerging directors to make Racing Stock, a short film about a young stock car racer.
